1. Capacity – don't match today's trucks
If your heaviest legal truck is 60 tons, buy 80 tons. In most African industries, trucks run overloaded – 60-ton trucks often carry 70–75 tons. A scale run at 120% of rated capacity loses 40–50% of its expected lifespan.

2. Platform length – measure your longest vehicle
