This project case involves a weighing system for a large-scale quarry in Namibia, Africa, designed for export operations. The quarry specializes in the extraction and processing of granite and aggregate, serving as a primary local supplier of construction stone. The finished stone products are primarily used in urban infrastructure and road construction projects, as well as for export. The mining area is situated in a desert and Gobi region with an extremely dry and hot climate, characterized by year-round intense sunlight and sandstorms. The surface soil consists of coarse sand and gravel containing alkaline minerals, making it highly corrosive. The site primarily uses extended-length heavy-duty dump trucks; the stone has high density and heavy loads, resulting in strong instantaneous impact forces during loading and unloading. Maintenance conditions in African mining areas are limited. Standard commercial truck scales have poor resistance to intense sunlight and sandstorms. When exposed to the desert environment for extended periods, they are prone to failures such as steel beam corrosion, sensor malfunction due to high temperatures, and data drift. This results in difficult repairs and high operational and maintenance costs. In response to the extreme operating conditions at the Namibian desert quarry, we have equipped this overseas project with a 3×20-meter, 120-ton extended-length quarry-specific truck scale. The extended platform accommodates local large-capacity rock transport trailers, enabling full-load weighing in a single pass without the need for segmented weighing, thereby improving transportation efficiency within the mining area. The weighbridge features a densely arranged structure of thickened U-shaped beams, formed through heavy-duty welded construction. The structure is stable and resistant to deformation. It withstands intense sunlight, wind and sand abrasion, and salt-alkali corrosion. The entire unit is fully sealed internally to prevent sand and dust from entering the equipment, making it suitable for extreme outdoor operating environments.
