This project case involves a large-scale open-pit mine in South Africa for export weighing operations. The mining base primarily engages in the extraction and processing of gold, manganese, and heavy metal ores, serving as a key hub for the local transportation of mineral resources. Located in a tropical arid region, the mining area experiences year-round intense heat and scorching sun, as well as severe sandstorms. The surface is dry and water-deficient, and the soil contains corrosive minerals. The transport vehicles on-site are primarily extended-length heavy-duty mining semi-trailers, which carry heavy loads, have extra-long bodies, and generate extreme impact forces during ore loading and unloading. African mining areas feature rudimentary infrastructure, thick dust, and extreme day-night temperature fluctuations. Standard truck scales lack sufficient resistance to intense sunlight and corrosion, making them highly prone to failures such as rusting steel structures, sensor malfunctions due to high temperatures, and data discrepancies. Additionally, after-sales maintenance overseas is difficult and costly. In response to the extremely harsh operating conditions at South African mines, we have customized a 3×24-meter, 150-ton extra-long, reinforced mining weighbridge for this overseas project. The extended weighbridge deck accommodates the local extra-long, heavy-duty mining trucks, enabling the entire vehicle to be weighed in a single pass without the need for segmented weighing, thereby significantly improving the efficiency of outbound transportation at the mine site. The scale deck features densely welded, multi-layered thickened U-beams. With a high beam density and high load-bearing capacity, it can withstand the intense impacts of ore loading and unloading as well as continuous heavy-load over the long term, ensuring a stable structure that resists deformation. To address the challenges of Africa’s high temperatures, intense sunlight, strong winds, sandstorms, and mineral corrosion, the scale body employs an export-grade heavy-duty sandblasting anti-corrosion process. It features multiple layers of high-temperature-resistant anti-rust coatings that resist sun exposure, wind and sand abrasion, and mineral corrosion. The entire unit is fully sealed to prevent the intrusion of dust and high-temperature moisture, making it suitable for extreme outdoor environments.
