Installation of a 3×18-meter, 120-ton weighbridge at the Fuzhou Grain Depot

This case study focuses on the smart upgrade and renovation project of the Fuzhou State-Owned Grain Reserve Warehouse. The warehouse performs critical public service functions, including regional grain procurement, storage, and distribution. Its daily operations primarily involve long-haul semi-trailer trucks transporting grain, which carry large loads and operate at a high frequency. The facility is located in an open outdoor area with high humidity and significant daily temperature fluctuations. This damp environment makes conventional truck scales highly susceptible to moisture damage, rust, and measurement errors. State-owned grain depots enforce stringent calibration standards for weighing equipment, requiring precise data, permanent traceability, and stable operation. Due to insufficient capacity and low levels of automation, the outdated equipment could no longer meet the standardized management requirements for grain storage. Consequently, Fujian Fangda Weighing Instruments was selected to carry out the weighbridge upgrade.

Taking into account the types of grain transport vehicles and the warehouse environment, we have customized a 3×18-meter, 120-ton, national standard digital truck scale for the client. The extended weighing platform accommodates the full-length weighing of large grain semi-trailers, eliminating the need for sectional weighing and improving throughput efficiency. The weighing platform features a thickened U-beam structure with integrated welding, resulting in a dense and rigid design capable of withstanding repeated heavy-load vehicle traffic over the long term, with excellent resistance to deformation and stable load-bearing capacity. To address the warehouse area’s humid, rainy climate and significant day-night temperature fluctuations, the platform employs a multi-layer anti-corrosion baked paint process and a fully sealed protective structure, providing moisture and dust resistance, aging resistance, and rust prevention, making it suitable for long-term outdoor operation.

The equipment is equipped with high-precision, encrypted digital sensors that are resistant to temperature fluctuations and interference, ensuring minimal weighing errors and consistent, stable data, strictly complying with national grain metrology verification standards. The system can integrate with intelligent warehousing systems, enabling automatic storage of weighing data, real-time uploads, and full traceability, thereby meeting the standards for standardized, transparent, and intelligent management of grain warehouses. We strictly adhere to state-owned enterprise construction standards for surveying, design, construction, and installation. All required qualifications and documentation are complete, and the system passed metrological department acceptance and verification on the first attempt.

Since the equipment was put into operation, vehicle weighing at the grain depot has become fast and convenient, with accurate and compliant measurement data, significantly improving the efficiency of grain receipt and dispatch management.
